Naturalized Hippeastrum

Naturalized hippeastrum, commonly known as amaryllis, are bulbs that have grown in their current location under natural conditions.  In this case, here on Hawaii Island.  They are acclimated to our seasons and temperatures and bloom when it is right for them.  They differ from Forced Amaryllis Bulbs in that they have not been treated with cold in order to "Force" when they bloom, usually during the winter holiday season.  Naturalized hippeastrum are ideal for gardeners who want to add them to their natural landscape and allow the bulbs to flowers during their natural season - usually spring time.  Under ideal conditions they can bloom multiple times a year.
